History of the 2024 race
Another wonderful race from the Bulgarian mountain running and ultra marathon calendar has passed. DECATHLON Trakia Ultra 2024 once again showed its participants unforgettable views of the most beautiful part of the Rhodope Mountains. The green fields and sharp peaks of this region are not accidentally named after the village of Gela - the Rhodope Alps.
With this, we closed Trakia Ultra in 2024. We are happy to announce that it went smoothly and we had no major problems with the course and the competitors. We see how every year, you come extremely prepared to all the races. You train hard, use GPS watches for additional navigation assistance and deal very well with minor ailments while running.

In the first year of this event, we managed to gather enough competitors to believe that there is a need for such a competition in the Rhodope Mountains. Suitable for both fast runners and tourists who want to enjoy nature and movement. At the start in the village of Shiroka Laka, about 60 boys and girls stood and climbed to the village of Solishta and saw the panorama towards the village of Gela.
The women arrived first.
Denitsa Dimova – 1:43:09

The fastest and toughest race in our series. This route climbs the entire Soliyski peak, passes through the three villages - Solishta, Stikl and Gela and ends with a crazy descent to the village of Shiroka Laka.
In the women's category, we have a completely new podium, as well as a new record with an improvement of 4 minutes for Mihaela Dimitrova. Here is the full ranking.

Great competition in the women's 50 kilometer course led to another new record, and with class and style! Radostina Balova took one hour and 4 minutes off the previous record, winning with 6:04:15 and setting a target of getting under 6 hours going forward. A very strong performance, considering that she herself had originally planned a time of just under 7 hours. The entire podium this year was made up of women participating for the first time, with all three being faster than the last record.

Undoubtedly, the starting list of this race was the most exciting in 2024. The fact that we had double the number of participants at the start compared to 2014 was indicative of what awaits us. The competitors in both the men's and women's categories were experienced and well prepared for the race.
In the women's race, Elena Borisova came in first place, breaking the course record by 1 hour and 4 minutes from the 24th year. Elena had been with us at a training camp on the course and her experience and good preparation meant that the result was no surprise to anyone. I was lucky enough to see Elena on the course several times during the day and I can confirm that not only did she always look fresh, but she was also running the whole time. An extremely strong time that can only be improved with a lot of work before the start.
The men's race was even more interesting, putting the old three-time winner Dimitar Marinov at the start with the contenders Rosen Rusev, Petar Hristov, Krasimir Dimitrov, Tsvetin Georgiev and Charalampos Tsamantouridis. With such strong men at the start, the top results were not long in coming. Unfortunately, Dimitar Marinov decided to end his participation in the race early and save his strength for other days. Rosen Rusev took advantage of this beautifully and improved his record by 33 minutes, raising the bar even higher and submitting a request to enter at 11 o'clock next year.
The women arrived first.
Elena Borisova – 16:01:08 (Record by 1 hour and 4 minutes)
Bela Duleva – 16:49:08 (Faster than the record in 23rd year)
Milena Dobreva – 17:36:17
The men's winners were:
Rosen Rusev – 12:12:14 (Record by 33 minutes)
Tsvetin Georgiev – 12:54:39
Krasimir Dimitrov – 13:35:06
